Operation Python Dance: Ikpeazu meets with traditional rulers, military chiefs

- Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has held a meeting with traditional rulers in the state and the GOC of the 82nd Army Division, Enugu, concerning the ongoing Operation Python Dance 
- The governor urged the military to ensure that miscreants seeking to enter Abia in order to cause problems are prevented from gaining access into the state 
- Ikpeazu further urged the royal fathers to liase with the father of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, HRH Eze I.O Kanu, to explore ways of restoring peace and normalcy in the state

A closed-door meeting has been held between the Abia state governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, traditional rulers in the state, and Major Gen. A.B. Abubakar, the general officer commanding (GOC), 82 Division, Nigeria Army, Enugu. According to reports, the development was made public in a statement signed by the chief press secretary to the governor, Enyinnaya Appolos. monarchs and the governor appealed to the military chief to reduce the number of soldiers in the state, especially at Aba and Umuahia, as they stated that tensions had subsided.

The governor also urged the royal fathers to liase with the father of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, Eze I.O Kanu, to find ways to restore peace to the state. 
Outlining the details of the meeting, the statement read in part: “The Nigerian Police and other security agencies should ensure that those who are brought into Abia from other states in order to cause trouble and engage in acts capable of causing breach of law and order, should be prevented from entering the state. “That traditional rulers should further liaise with HRH Eze I.O Kanu (father of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra), to further explore ways of restoring peace and normalcy. “That Abians and those who do business in the state should go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation, while desisting from acts capable of causing the breach of peace in the state.”
